New Feature: Retroactive Standings. Exhibit A - the Colts' Historic 2025 Faceplant.

They were the #1 seed in the entire AFC through Week 10. They didn't win again all season.

They were the #1 seed in the entire fucking AFC through Week 10.
Then they didn't win another game. Not one. All season.

We just dropped a new tool called Retroactive Standings. It lets you yank the NFL table back to any week since 2020 and stare at exactly how it looked before the wheels came off. Honest origin story? We built this shit because a buddy of ours is a Colts fan and we needed a permanent, searchable monument to the single dumbest collapse we watched all year. Turns out the tool's actually useful too. But priorities, people.

Week 10, 2025: Look at These Beautiful Bastards

Indianapolis Colts, through Week 10

8-2. Best record in the AFC. #1 seed. Leading the South. +115 point differential. Coming off a win over Atlanta. Living the dream.

This isn't some cherry-picked rewrite. Go pull up Week 10 on the Standings page yourself. There they are, parked at the top of the conference ahead of Denver and New England like they belonged there. And they weren't some lucky 8-2 fraud either — they'd beaten real teams and looked like actual Super Bowl contenders. This is the part of the movie where the ominous music kicks in and you know somebody's about to eat shit.

Then They Lost Every Single Goddamn Game for the Rest of the Year

Not a rough patch. Not "they struggled." Every. Single. Game. Week 12 through Week 18. Seven in a row. The entire back half of the season. Zero wins. Pure, uninterrupted failure.

The full seven-game funeral

Wk12 @ Chiefs L 20-23 · Wk13 vs Texans L 16-20 · Wk14 @ Jaguars L 19-36 · Wk15 @ Seahawks L 16-18 · Wk16 vs 49ers L 27-48 · Wk17 vs Jaguars L 17-23 · Wk18 @ Texans L 30-38.

The damage, in numbers that should hurt

8-2 became 8-9. #1 seed became "thanks for playing." +115 point differential got cut in half to +54. They didn't lose on tiebreakers — they weren't even close enough to need one.

That 49ers game still lives rent-free in my head. A 21-point home loss, 27-48, to a team they had every business beating a month earlier. And special shout-out to the Jacksonville fucking Jaguars, who didn't just pass the Colts — they beat them twice during the collapse (Week 14 and Week 17), stole the AFC South right out from under them, and finished as the conference's #3 seed. Indianapolis didn't get leapfrogged from across the country. Their own division rival walked into their house, kicked the door down, and did it to their face. Twice.

Here's the number that made us add the "Last 5" column: pull up Week 16 and look at the Colts' last five. 0-5. Now look at the Tennessee Titans — a 3-14 dumpster fire that had been mathematically dead for a month. Their last five at the same snapshot? 2-3, and they were on a winning streak. The Colts were, at that exact moment, losing games at a higher rate than a team that had already given up on the season. That's not a collapse. That's performance art.

Go Relive the Whole Disaster Yourself

This is the entire point of the tool, so here's how to do it, step by masochistic step:

A grief timeline, self-guided

1. Open the Standings page — it dumps you right on Week 10, the last good day these guys ever had. 2. Find the week dropdown. 3. Click it forward one week at a time, like you're picking a scab. 4. Watch that #1 seed badge next to Indianapolis shrink to a #3, then just vanish entirely by Week 14. 5. Flip over to the Conference view for the full 1-through-16 stomach punch — you get to watch them slide from the top of the AFC all the way to 8th place, one click at a time. 6. Try to make it to Week 18 without laughing out loud. Nobody has. Not even Colts fans.

Misery Loves Company: Tampa Bay Somehow Fell Even Harder

If the Colts weren't quite enough carnage for one article, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pulled off the single ugliest collapse in the entire league — a 9-spot faceplant in the NFC, from the conference's #2 seed at 6-2 through Week 9 down to 8-9 and completely off the map by Week 18. They went 2-7 down the stretch, including getting run out of the building 34-7 by the Rams, and split the season series with a Carolina team they finished dead-even with in the standings — same 8-9 record, same division — except Carolina walked away with the division title and Tampa Bay walked away with absolutely nothing. Worse fall than the Colts, on paper. We just like the Colts one more.

The Flip Side: Everybody Else Climbing Over Their Corpses

Every collapse needs a winner, and 2025 had some good ones climbing the standings while Indianapolis and Tampa Bay were busy setting themselves on fire:

Chicago Bears — 8th to 2nd in the NFC

5-3 through Week 9 to 11-6 and the conference's #2 seed, riding a five-game win streak through the middle of the year. Quietest big riser in football — nobody was talking about them and they just kept winning.

Carolina Panthers — 9th to 4th in the NFC

5-4 to 8-9 sounds like a nothing record, but in a garbage-fire NFC South it was plenty to climb five full spots and walk off with a division title.

And obviously, Jacksonville again — 5-3 through Week 9 to 13-4 and the AFC's #3 seed, directly at the Colts' expense, in the Colts' own backyard. Some rivalries are personal. This one just happens to have box scores attached.

Now Go Do This to Your Own Group Chat

If your idea of a good time is living in the past, we just built you the weapon for it. Every league has a Colts guy. Every league has a Bucs guy who's already conveniently forgotten how good Week 9 felt. Pull up their team, drag that week dropdown to the exact moment it all fell apart, and drop the screenshot straight into the group chat. No caption needed — the standings do the talking. We just hand you the receipts.

Every record, streak, and seed above is pulled from the real 2025 regular season and is rebuilt live from game data — nothing here is hand-typed or cached from memory. build your own team's rise-or-fall timeline on the Standings page. Gamble responsibly, 21+ only.
